Public Transit

Introduction

KCAG recognizes an increasing need to plan for and address the mobility needs of the County’s growing population. Public Transportation services are available to people with lower incomes, seniors, and persons with disabilities through the Kings Area Rural Transit (KART) system, overseen by the Kings County Area Public Transit Agency (KCAPTA) and through the City of Corcoran’s transit system, Corcoran Area Transit (CAT).

KCAG is responsible for the annual unmet transit needs process required by the California Transportation Development Act (TDA).  KCAG conducts a public hearing each year to identify transit needs in the region.

KCAG is responsible for the oversight and administration of the region’s two major sources of public transportation funding provided by the TDA.

  • Local Transportation Fund (LTF)
  • State Transit Assistance (STA) Fund
